Overstreet's Quarterly

1993-1994    6 Issues

Founding editor Gary M. Carter's original volume of Comic Book Marketplace magazine wrapped with issue #21, when Carter joined the Overstreet Publications family. In the interim, between the end of CBM Volume 1 and its relaunch at Gemstone Publishing with Volume 2 issue 22 in early 1995 (after Gemstone acquired Overstreet), two parallel magazines were published. Overstreet's Comic Book Marketplace (which became Overstreet's Comic Book Monthly after a couple of issues) focused on Bronze Age and modern era comics, while a new quarterly magazine catered to fans of Golden Age and Silver Age comics.

The first issue of this new quarterly was published with a cover date of Summer 1993, under the title Overstreet's Advanced Collector. With issue #2 dated Oct-Dec 1993, the title changed to Overstreet's Golden Age Quarterly. The third issue, Jan-Mar 1994 brought a final name change to Gold and Silver: Overstreet's Comic Book Quarterly. While this title appeared on the cover and in the indicia, the spine gave the title as Overstreet's Golden Age and Silver Age Quarterly, just to keep everyone guessing. For simplicity, we've used this title as the group label for this 6-issue run.

Despite all the name changes, the quarterly magazines featured a uniform dedication to uncovering the lost, forgotten and even never-before-documented history of Golden Age and Silver Age comic books, characters, and creators through feature articles, analyses, and interviews.

A limited quantity of uncirculated back issues was recently located in our warehouse, and we are pleased to make them available for sale for the first time in nearly 2 decades.
