Targeted to novice collectors, Comic Book Collecting was a complement to the annual Overstreet's Comic Book Price Guide. The introduction also directed seasoned collectors, or those seeking more detailed information, to the more comprehensive periodical Overstreet's Comic Book Price Update, or to the iconic Comic Book Price Guide itself.

A special note: This cover from the 1990 (#7) edition, was also used on the 1991 (#8), and 1992 (#9), and 1993 1st Printing (#10) editions. Pricing data was updated each year, and cover thumbnails in the price listings were changed. Be sure to check the copyright date to verify which annual edition you have.
