Founded and self-published by noted comic book collector/historian Gary M. Carter, the first volume of Comic Book Marketplace ran for 21 issues. Publication was suspended when Carter joined Overstreet Publications as an editor. Unfortunately, we have no back issues of Volume 1 available.
After a hiatus of slightly over 2 years, CBM was revived as a Gemstone publication beginning with issue #22, cover-dated March 1995. Carter served as editor for CBM Volume 2, comprising issues #22 through #83. Russ Cochran served as editor for CBM Volume 3, running from issue #84 through #121.
CBM's run as a Gemstone publication lasted an even 100 issues, beginning with #22 in March 1995 and ending with #121 in May 2005.
